The purpose of In Her Shoes Foundation™ is to bring together women of all ages and backgrounds to inspire, connect, educate and support the development and maintenance of a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Our vision is to provide all women with the tools to live a positive and healthy lifestyle. Through monthly workshops, after-school mentor programs, group retreats, and volunteer events, In Her Shoes Foundation connects women of various backgrounds to serve one another and those in need. We strive to make charitable contributions and partner with other organizations that focus on social and educational causes in our community. We help each other by sharing personal and professional experience and by supporting, encouraging, and inspiring personal change and growth.
The women of In Her Shoes Foundation are recognized and valued for their passion and commitment to self-improvement, providing leadership, and making significant contributions to their communities.
In Her Shoes Foundation began as the Positive Girls Club in 2008 for women of all ages who were determined to make positive changes in their lives. Small gatherings were held where women came together to share positive thoughts, provide inspiration to each other and share self-improvement opportunities. The group began to slowly grow and gain momentum. As a forum for women to build strong individual and community relationships, Positive Girls Club became a strong professional resource in the Chicago-land area.
In 2010 the name was changed to In Her Shoes Chicago and plans were put into place to formalize the group through incorporation as a not-for-profit organization. A kick-off event was held to introduce the new structure and provide the opportunity for women to learn about future plans and direction of the group. Additionally, an initial Board of Directors was assembled and in 2011 a programming plan was developed. This plan included regular monthly workshops, social and community events, meetings, annual women's retreats and a yearly conference.
In late 2011, In Her Shoes Chicago was changed to In Her Shoes Foundation and expanded internationally. In Her Shoes Foundation continues to provide opportunities for women to inspire, connect, educate and support the development and maintenance of a positive and healthy life style.
In Her Shoes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Kasia Wereszczynska, MA, LCPC, RYT -- Founder of In Her Shoes Foundation
Kasia's passion in life, giving hope to others, is what she has done throughout her eight years of experience as a crisis worker on the Southside of Chicago, which led to her founding of In Her Shoes Foundation.
Hope is the most important thing in the world. It allows people to still see the light when they are so shackled in darkness. Accordingly, the vision of the foundation is to provide women and girls with the tools necessary to live a positive and healthy lifestyle, which led toward an initiative that fostered monthly professional development workshops, after-school mentor programs, group retreats, and group volunteer community events. Not only does the foundation provide hope for those who participate in its activities, it provides hope to all the volunteers--allowing each one to see that their actions truly do make a difference. As such, In Her Shoes Foundation brings together women of all ages and backgrounds to inspire, connect, educate and support the development and maintenance of a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Through In Her Shoes Foundation those involved continually lift up and support one another every day. They are an anchor and inspiration. They keep one another going and on course to their dreams to make this world a better place than when they first entered into it. Their drive and dedication manifests itself with a delightful manner that is key in working with a wide variety of personalities and situations. Without their dedication, this work would never be possible.
